CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Students who enter must be attending secondary school and be 19 years of age or under on August 31, 2004. Students in years 9, 10 or 11 may enter in Junior sections or Open sections, but not both. Students in Year 12 and 13 may only enter in the Open sections.

The design and design presentation must be the entrant’s own original work.

Submissions must be accompanied by an official note signed by a Head of Department or Principal/Deputy Principal, statinag they have seen the entry being submitted for judging.

The note should read:

This submission, which I have seen, is the original work of ...................................
who is a student in year ....... at..............................................................(school)
Signed: Name ............................ Position ............................. Date ...............................
(Please print clearly)

Each design submission must meet the Conditions of Entry, Presentation Criteria and Category Criteria. Submissions that do not comply will be returned to students without being judged.

NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Subject to the qualification above prohibiting a student entering both junior and open sections of any category, a student may lodge an entry in more than one category or section.

Previous entries that have been awarded a place are ineligible to enter the 2004 Awards.

Whilst all entries will be treated with care, entries will only be accepted on a no liability basis. Entrants should arrange their own insurance of submissions should they require it.

Entrants should ensure that their intellectual property is protected to the level they require. (How this is done could be part of the research phase).

A code number will be sent for each entry after the entry is received with the correct entry fee. This code number, which is used for anonymity during judging, is to be placed as set out in the section Presentation Criteria. Each submission should be held together in an A3 ENVELOPE or simply by a rubber band, so each sheet can be separated for judging and maybe display. Submissions, even though they may be received directly from individual entrants rather than in bulk from a school, will be returned in bulk to the school. Entrants are not required to supply envelopes or postage for the return of submissions. It is however, helpful if schools sending submissions in bulk use substantial packaging which can be reused when the submissions are returned.

Entrant’s name, school year, school and school address must be on the back of each sheet submitted.
Note: Entrant’s name may only appear on the back of each sheet. Do not put it on the front.

Entry forms may be photocopied. The entry fee of $40 per entry must accompany the entry form. Cheques should be made payable to The Young Designer Awards Trust Inc.

A refund of entry fees will only be considered if written requests are received by the Trust by July 30 2004.

The judges reserve the right not to make an award should they decide it would be inappropriate to do so.

The judges reserve the right to have the top four entries in sections of the Fashion, Electronics and Visual Arts categories (Three-Dimensional Studies) freighted to the judges at a designated venue.

The judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence may be entered into.

All entrants agree to the Young Designer Awards Trust Inc using any or all of their work in its publicity and its development of the awards.
